Xiao'an favors intimate, chamber-size instrumentation, blended with elements of modern jazz and contemporary production - a natural harmony between his educational background in jazz, professional session guitar work, and 5 years of orchestra conducting and management in Boston.

He is an assistant professor at Berklee College of Music, where he serves his students as a guide in their journeys and, occasionally, creative therapist.
